Its straightforward process and accurate temperature monitoring make it indispensable in quality assurance, research, and certification of petroleum products.
FAQs of Abels Flash Point Apparatus:
Q: How does the Abels Flash Point Apparatus measure the flash point of a sample?
A: The apparatus utilizes the Abel closed cup method. A petroleum sample is placed in the brass test cup, heated gradually while being stirred, and the temperature at which vapor above the liquid momentarily ignites is recorded as the flash point.
Q: What type of thermometer is included with the apparatus?
A: The apparatus comes with a thermometer covering a temperature range of 0C to 70C, which is suitable for standard flash point determination as outlined in IS:1448 (P:20) 1985.
Q: Where is this apparatus typically used?
A: It is primarily used in laboratory settings for quality assurance, product certification, and research purposes involving petroleum products. Common users include exporters, manufacturers, suppliers, traders, and wholesalers in India.
Q: What are the standard accessories provided with the unit?
A: Standard accessories include a brass test cup, shield, heating unit, thermometer, and a manual stirrer with an insulated knob, ensuring all essential testing components are provided.
Q: Does the device require a specific power supply for operation?
A: Yes, the Abels Flash Point Apparatus operates on a 220V power supply and is compatible with both electric and gas flame ignition, providing versatility for different laboratory environments.
Q: What are the benefits of using a stainless steel body for this apparatus?
A: A stainless steel body ensures durability, corrosion resistance, and ease of cleaning, all of which are crucial for consistent laboratory use and maintaining sample purity.
Q: What is the minimum sample volume required for a valid test?
